I actually saw my boss Bob for the first time in like half a year today at work cause the shipment had just came when I got there. Work is pretty blah and I'm really looking forward to going to school full-time instead of working (for now). If money gets tight and poker isn't working I'll have to see if I can find a good paying job on the side. I've been breezing through Matt Matros' The Making of a Poker Player. The best way I can describe it is The Catcher in the Rye meets Theory of Poker. Seriously. The book is so well written as a novel-type book portraying his poker experiences, compared to the blah textbook like poker books that so many poker books are. It's also a lot like Phil Hellmuth's beginner book, like how it's actually suitable for beginners to learn all the games, but the advice is years better then the shit in Phil's book. The small section on tells is excellent to think about and I haven't learned too much else new, but it's still an awesome read just because it's like following Matt's journey from a first person perspective. If you ever by any chance see this Matt - excellent book. I also got Mike Caro's Book of Poker Tells, but I haven't started reading it yet. The other books I ordered (HPFAP, SSHE, and Harrington's 1st, along with WLLH v3 from PS) haven't came yet. I might be in on a home game in North Attleboro Friday, and there's another East Providence game on Sunday that I'm looking forward too. Cats are good again although Blackie has a sore throat and is at the vet's for the night. We got rid of one kitten and while we might keep one we still have to find a home for the other one. Let me know if you're interested. I meant to post pictures a while back but I'm lazy. ( Didn't do anything in the $215 tournament... )I also need new glasses really bad. I lost track of how long I've had these but it could easily be 6+ years or something sick like that. Of course they are horribly dorky and also scratched up, but also the left screw for the frame is loose and it makes my glasses look sideways, and it could easily break soon. I try to find another kit with a screw in it for it and then glue it back in for now. I want to splurge on glasses but I'm trying to be as careful as I can because I really don't know what's going to happen when I go to school. It is one of the things I really want to do before school before. Heck, maybe I'll be attractive with new glasses! Right. This "Pon de Replay" song that keeps popping up on the Shoutcast Top 40 stations is the worst song ever. Ciara sucks as well. Played the $25 tournament in Milford Thursday night. I was sort of familiar with the area in Milford, so I didn't get totally lost which was nice. It was a 30+ minute highway drive though, so not the greatest of places to play. I have a serious problem in that, I can't remember any of even the most crucial hands I played 100% accurately. This really bothers me because I can't figure out how badly or well I played if I don't know what I did. I didn't bring any sort of note taking devices like I have at the East Providence games, although I didn't use them then anyway. I definitely need to come up with a system or get used to remembering hands. This really frustrated me when I was trying to write this post up for 2 hours and I realized, I don't know all the really important or even the most important details well enough. ( Anyways... )On the way home I wasn't sure if I would make it back on gas. I get about ~20mpg probably a little more on a 12 gallon tank and I had gone about 240 miles on the current tank, so I stopped at a full service Shell that to my surprise was actually open in the center of Milford and got $10 at $2.39, which at the time was a little bit of a bad beat because I was going to get gas at the Hess in Seekonk at $2.26 earlier but I was impatient and all the pumps were full and I figured I could make it to Milford okay. On the way back home on RT 1 I saw the Hess station which I didn't even know if it was open at $2.22 and stopped there and lessened the bad beat, averaging out at $2.30. Now the Hess station at Seekonk today was like $2.31 and other places were up to $2.43. Gas is insane. In other news, Patches went missing again for 4 days or so, and then was found the other day but wasn't doing too good. It ended up he was bit, probably be that stray cat that had the kittens, and had to have minor surgery or something to fix whatever, and he might have Rabies. Although you would think that if it was the stray mother cat that bit him, and that cat had to have Rabies to pass it on to Patches, then wouldn't the kittens maybe have Rabies too? So hopefully he'll be all right, but it also worries me if he does have Rabies he could pass it on to all our cats which would not be good (although I guess the Rabies boosters are up to date on the other cats, cause it wasnt with Patches). Also, new cat George who just loves to hang around on the roof porch allll the time fell off the roof the other day and they were looking for him when I came home from work. We were able to grab him and he's home now but no roof for him for a while. My old cat Ginger supposedly fell off the roof at one point a while back as well. Today's quote of the day goes to my mom, who when I said I would need new bedsheets for Fitchburg asked me if I was going to live there. No mom, I've heard their dumpsters are pretty comfortable and the commute isn't too bad. There's a stray cat that's been wandering around our place and over the weekend my step-father saw kittens in one of the abandoned greenhouses near the house. My mom was able to get one of them and we've took it in for now although my step-dad doesn't want to keep it. It's realllly cute and small, I'll have to get a picture eventually. My cat Patches got outside too a few days ago but he didn't go far and we found him recently. I worked almost 8 hours both Saturday and Sunday and was really worn out. Saturday night me, Adrian, and his friend Eric went and saw Land of The Dead. It reminded me of Kenny's movie. It was funny when the humans pulled a "help me trying to crawl away from zombie" move just like I did. The movie was pretty good but guns need to run out of bullets more often and why can't they just kill the right fucking zombie the first time? That and the ending, in a way, sucked. "Okay..we saved some people, hey look the zombie's are pussies, we're going to Canada, bye." Today a homeless guy with a bag on his back kept coming into the store for stuff, and was in the bathroom for like 10 minutes. The girl Andrea over at the shell station got some customer to knock on the door when he was in there to see what was going on, and he was like "I'm pooping!" apparently, which is pretty funny. But I do feel kind of bad for the homeless guy, since he probably didn't mean to be kind of creepy and supicious. And was kind of scaring Andrea. ( Poker )Tags: cats, friends, movies, poker, work
